Hello crafting friends!
I've had butterflies on my mind over the last week as well as rainbows. Of course there was only one thing for it - put them both together! Come and see:
You won't see one of these in your garden this weekend but I hope you think it's pretty! I started the process by sponging a rainbow of inks onto a card panel. The butterfly from Uniko's English Country Garden was stamped over the top with Memento black ink and I coloured it with alcohol markers.
While stamping the sentiment, from Simply Said by Clearly Besotted, I smudged some black ink on my card panel, so I cut my butterfly out with a stitched label die from The Works. I trimmed the more ornate part from the sides with a stitched rectangle die so that it would fit nicely onto my card front and attached it with dimensionals.
EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
I was delighted that this card was chosen to be part of the Allsorts Challenge's top five!
CHALLENGES
I'm hoping I'm in time to join in with Allsorts Challenge where butterflies are the theme, and Use Your Stuff, where you can choose to use flowers or butterflies or a combination of both!
AND IN OTHER NEWS
Today, it's the 75th anniversary of VE Day, marking the end of the second world war in Europe. It's a day to reflect on the damage extremists and the power-hungry inflict on the world. In my neighbourhood, people have put flags and bunting up in their front gardens and I think we'll have socially distanced cups of tea and chat later on (hopefully before the storms that are forecast arrive!)

My customised die shape - I'm rather pleased with it too, especially as it happened because I was trying to get it to fit! Take care x
DeleteSo lovely to see a really lovely coloured butterfly, a lot of blogger think that I do not like butterflies but I do, I just hate to see a punched butterfly in only the colour of the card stock they have punched it out in. Well done.

Lol, different strokes for different folks Kathleen! I agree with you that it's nice to have a bit of detail x
DeleteLove this rainbow butterfly, Vicky! The soft rainbow colors in the background are a wonderful base for it!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you spotted that Bonnie! It made me very happy to colour it like that!
DeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteHope you managed to enjoy a cuppa with the neighbours while the weather was nice.

Thank! xxx
DeleteOh how I love this card, Vicky! I'd say the smudge was a blessing in disguise as I love the look of the popped up label die! What a difference the response to crisis of the WWII generation compared to now--at least in my part of the world.
ReplyDeleteIt probably does look better with the die popped up Greta but I'd had such grand plans for a one layer card! Oh dear, it's worrying when neighbours don't seem to understand the rules isn't it :/
DeleteBeautiful card Vicky and I love how you combined the butterfly with the rainbow colours xx
ReplyDeleteIt's the small details like that that make me happy Andrea! xx
DeleteSuch a beautiful butterfly card here Vicky, love those colours too. Stay safe and well ♥ Viv xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Viv - and you too xx
DeleteSo pretty, Vicky, and a deserved award winner xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Em! xx
