The pleasure of peonies

Hello crafting friends!

After the masculinity of the last couple of posts, I'm going for some unabashed femininity today! Come and see:

One of the pleasures of the month of May for me is watching the buds of my peonies ripening until finally, the plant bursts into flower at the end of the month (just in time for my birthday - thank you Mother Nature!)  That was the inspiration for this card.

I started by masking off the edges of a card panel, laying a cloud stencil across it and inking with Tumbled Glass distress ink. The flowers are from Clearly Besotted's On Your Day and were stamped, coloured with alcohol markers, fussy cut and popped up on dimensionals. The card was finished with a sentiment from the same set and a sprinkling of gems.

EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
I was delighted that this card won a Team Pick at the TicTacToe Challenge!

CHALLENGES
I'm linking up with the TicTacToe Challenge where I chose the Pink, Flowers and Clouds column; the beautiful sketch came from Hand Stamped Sentiments; I'm also joining in with CAS on Friday's Use Your Favourite Flower Stamp challenge. I have a large collection of flower stamps (haven't we all?!) and they're ALL my favourites!

AND IN OTHER NEWS
Come and have a look at the peony - I think it might flower a little earlier this year. Here's one of the buds:

Here's another bud - my BEST bud!!

Thanks for popping in to visit me today. Hope you are keeping safe and well.

Hugs,

    1. I think she's wondering what on earth I'm doing poking about in the flower beds (especially as she isn't allowed to!)

  4. A Gorgeous card Vicky, also love your background. The peony is in the same state as mine, it won't be long showing us it's beauty. As long as the return of Winter this weekend plays nasty with them?
    Keep safe and well

    1. Thanks Kath (and it's more fussy cutting! I always think I can get more stamps if I fussy cut instead of buying the matching dies!) x

  9. Love a little unabashed femininity Vicky - and those pink peonies totally hit the spot! I do love a good peony - they aren't around for long, but glorious when in bloom. Thanks for sharing at TTT this week! P.S - Hand Stamped Sentiments doesn't close until next Monday 11/5 - there is still plenty of time to link up ;-)

    1. They're not around for long but are so beautiful when they are - and I like the foliage too which forms a neat clump and makes a nice background for the geraniums which are planted in front of them and come out straight afterwards. Thanks for setting me straight about HSS - I got confused because the DT uses a linky for their gallery which of course says closed at the end!

  11. Your Peony certainly does seem early Vicky, ours are not even showing a bud yet, but your card displays perfect blooms in the lovely warm pinks.
