Hello crafting friends!
It's been such a beautiful weekend here in the heart of England, it was hard to think of all the craziness going on in the world. I realise how lucky I am to have my little garden and it definitely helps to be connected to that little patch of nature. I've had gardens on my mind in the Craft Square Metre too. Come and see:
I've gone masculine with this one, with a mix of NBUS (never before used stuff) and older stamps. I cut out an elongated hexagon with my new Sissix Geo Frame thinlits, sponged it with blue and yellow inks and added some grass with another new item, the Scenic Borders stencil from Funky Fossil.
The long ago retired Sheltering Tree stamp set was used to stamp the tree and the rake leaning against it. I used the rubber on the end of a pencil to add arty apples, and markers to add detail. The birds are from Take Flight 2 by Inkylicious. I thought of the wartime song 'Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me' and then had a vision of someone accidentally sitting on the rake and it clocking them over the head! But I digress...
I chose a kraft card base and attached my scene to the front. When you cut the Geo Frame shapes, you also get a really fine frame, so I used a fine tipped glue pen on this and pressed it in around my scene. I'm going to have fun with these I know! Finally I added a birthday greeting from Uniko's Simply Said Blocks.

Delighted this card was chosen as a Cut Above at the Paper Players!
CHALLENGES
I'm linking up with CAS on Friday where we must Use A Die; The Male Room, where the theme is In The Garden; The Paper Players where they want to see CAS male cards; and of course the NBUS Challenge, where the idea is to share never before used schtuff!
AND IN OTHER NEWS
There are some beautiful flowers coming out in my garden:
My peony is out - at least two weeks earlier than usual.
This beautiful pink rose is gorgeously scented and I breathe in deeply every time I pass.
This one's been freshly watered by the looks of it and has a very distinctive fragrance...!

I'm loving those dies and think they're going to be very versatile :)

What a tranquil scene your have created Vicky. My peonies haven't opened up yet but I can't wait until they do. Your are stunning.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Two more buds have opened up this morning ready for the day's sunshine! It's so exciting watching everything come out :)
DeleteYour Peonies are indeed early Vicky, ours are a long way off. I actually ordered a bunch from M&S to have sent to Anysia on 30th, several of us are doing the same to try and brighten what would have been her wedding day which was planned around them being her favourite flower.
ReplyDeleteA striking cad, he shaped panel works very well focally placed.

That is such a thoughtful thing to do Brenda. She will appreciate being surrounded by her favourite flowers for sure! x
DeleteMmmm, I can practically smell those beautiful roses too! Thanks for sharing! Eau de Wet Dog . . . not so much!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS card . . . kind of autumnal, but definitely good for the male of the species!

You have mentioned Eva's signature fragrance Eau de Dog (aka Oh da dog!) Lucky there were scented roses nearby.

Adorable card, Vicky xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Em! xx
DeleteI love the elongated shape and your restful place to sit, even if an apple fell and I stepped on the rake LOL. I love it on the kraft card, seems more rustic. Your peony and your rose are just gorgeous, I can smell both from here. As for Eve, perhaps put her by the rose in that state LOL.
ReplyDeleteKeep safe and well

I'm quite excited about that die set - watch this space! I am loving my little garden this year. Normally it gets torn up by marauding puppies LOL! x
DeleteWhat a lovely little scene, Vicky! Love your new Geo die!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie. I know, I've been thinking about ways to use that die set too!
DeleteLove this elongated hexagon, Vicky! What a perfect focal point! Love this image, too! My peony has yet to bloom, but it is loaded down for sure. Thank you for playing in my Clean and Simple masculine challenge at The Paper Players! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann. I do love the showiness of a peony. Enjoy watching yours come into flower :)
DeleteWow Vicky, I really really adore this card!! So peaceful, so lovely!!
ReplyDeleteAlike you, I'm very graceful for all the goods around me in these strange times. We have a wonderful garden with peonies as well. I love them! I had them in my wedding bouquet and every year around our wedding anniversery I take some out of the garden and put them inside.
Stay Safe
Charlotte
Thanks Charlotte. What a lovely way to remember your wedding day, by bringing some peonies indoors!
DeleteI do love the distinctive shape around your scene. And peonies and roses... am envious you grow some beautiful ones. Also love seeing your dog. Hope you keep showing her.
ReplyDeleteI would love to say that I've spent years tending my little garden but to be fair it survives on a fair amount of neglect! I do love it though. And of course I will continue to post photos of my gorgeous floofy girl!
DeleteWhat a fresh shape and I love that you can add a narrow frame if you choose. It gives a finished look and draws the eye right to the focus pocus! This is a idyllic scene, Vicky! Great blending, and coloring, and apple creating! Hope no one sits on the rake for another reason besides the clocking ... depending on which way the rake is leaning!! Thank you for sharing the beautiful flower and Eva photos and for sharing at NBUS. Take care and keep safe! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting shape isn't it and I love those thin frames. Lol at the other vision you've just given me about the rake and perhaps a bit of a wince as well! You keep safe too x
DeleteVicky, this is such a beautiful scene! I love the elongated hexagon! CAS perfection! SO happy you joined us at The Paper Players this week! I love peonies. I don't have any in GA, but we always had them in Indiana! One of my favorite flowers! ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire! Peonies are such 'show-off' flowers aren't they?! Everyone seems to love them :)
DeleteHurrah for gardens indeed Vicky - where would we be without them right now? Mine is in better shape than the inside of my house I think!! I love the way you framed your paper version - it's like a window into a secret garden and the apples really pop! Gorgeous peonies too. Thanks for playing along over at The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card and lovely design.
