Hello crafting friends!
Last July, when I came back to stamping after a four year break, I noticed that stencils were being used quite a lot. They looked fabulous too - as subtle backgrounds, gorgeous collage effects and even stunning focal points. I started trying them out and of course I fell in love! My stencil collection is growing rapidly and sometimes I make a card that relies almost entirely on them...
... like this one! This bright card was stencilled with Funky Fossil's Funky Circle - and that is the most times I've ever used the word funky in any sentence I can tell you!
To make the card, I cracked open a rainbow of Stampin' Up inks, held the stencil off one corner of a card panel, and used sponge daubers to ink into it. When I'd done one corner I lifted the stencil up carefully, laid it off the opposite corner, and repeated the inking process.
I experimented with all sorts of sentiments but finally settled on this blocky one from Uniko's Simply Said Blocks.

Delighted to have been Honourably Mentioned at Time Out for this card!
CHALLENGES
It was the Time Out challenge that set me off today. I love the gorgeous rainbow of colour on the cake and my circles are a nod to the layers of icing on the cake. I'm also linking up with The Rainbow Card Challenge where this month's colour palette is Pastel Rainbow.
AND IN OTHER NEWS
There's so much pollen about this year! I have never suffered from hay fever but this year I've noticed that when I'm walking out in the countryside, my nose starts to run a little - sorry if that's too much information! I always remember to bring a tissue and if I'm social-distance-walking with a friend, I always hastily assure them that it's just a little pollen and nothing more sinister!
And talking of tissues, Eva, have you seen my tissue?
Hope you are keeping safe and well and finding time to create :)

A really super use of the stencil, super colours and design.

Thanks Kath! That rainbow of colours cheered me up no end! x
DeleteLove that stencil Vicky and a lovely rainbow you've done! x
ReplyDeleteFunky Fossil do brilliant stencils don't they, and at a reasonable price too! x
DeleteThis is very cool and works for those challenges perfectly! You have a steady hand to coordinate all those colors! And little Miss Eva...naughty girl, maybe she needed to blow her nose too.
ReplyDeleteHaha, made me laugh to think of Eva blowing her nose! She makes a proper drama if she sneezes!
DeleteGorgeous stencilled card.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with dogs and tissues! They all seem to love shredding them!!!
You're not alone . . . I totally sympathise with your pollen plight.
Hug x
It's funny isn't it. I think it must be the satisfaction of shredding something up so totally!
DeleteOh my pollen thing is almost nothing. Feel for everyone with full blown hay fever.

This is a fabulous CAS design and I love the way you were inspired by our photo. Wonderful use of inks and great stenciling. Thank you for joining us at Time Out!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nonni - an abstract interpretation of the cake!
DeleteI just love this Vicky-so clever to use the different colours with the stencil-I find this so hard! The design is perfect too, with the placement of the sentiment. As for hayfever...me too...one antihistamine a day and benadryl nose spray, night and morning-really helps. Thanks for joining Time Out
ReplyDeleteWell, don't look at mine too closely Sandie!! It was fun to do though. I laid out the ink pads with the corresponding dauber in front of them so I couldn't go wrong ;) I feel embarrassed to have mentioned the runny nose now - it's nothing compared to what people with real hay fever have! x
DeleteStunning and a happy rainbow card Vicky.
ReplyDeleteTake care

Bless you Faith! x

What a fun and funkaliciuos card! Thanks for joining us at The Rainbow Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteFunkilicious is my new favourite word Sue!
DeleteI had to laugh when I saw Eva's photo with the tissue, Bella does exactly the same!! She is terrible at grabbing any muffin wrappers or chocolate bar wrappers if my family haven't put them in the bin and licking them to within a inch of their lives. She is on a diet at present so is grabbing anything resembling food!! How amazing to have taken a 4yr break and come back to card making!! Your cards are so fantastic, you must naturally be a good designer. I'm gradually using stencils more but I'm very clumsy and messy with them. Love your rainbow design and its completely clean and modern. So wonderful to see you at TIME OUT!!xx
ReplyDeleteLOL, quite a few dogs can't resist a tissue! Eva, who is reading over my shoulder (or is that my imagination?!) is horrified that Bella is on a diet and hopes I'm not getting any ideas! Thank you for your kind comments - you are very encouraging :) xx
DeleteYour card is fabulous! Thank you for joining in the Rainbow Card Challenge this month! We hope you join us again soon.
ReplyDeleteLOL My Boxer mix is always looking around the office trash can to see if there's something he can pick up like used Kleenex.

LOL about your dog! The kinds of things that horrify humans are often perfectly acceptable in the canine world!
DeleteLOVE this card.....just fabulous!!!!! Thank you so much for playing along with us at Time Out!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim. LOVED this challenge!
DeleteSo pretty! I love stencils too! And your dog is so cute! :) Thank you so much for joining us at the Rainbow Card Challenge! Hugs! Katy-DT :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Eva IS very cute and she is aware of it and uses it to her advantage!
DeleteCongrats for getting Honours at Time Out. We loved your card-see blog for your badge x
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, Love how you've used rainbow colours with this stencil and Eva is adorable! Cathy x
ReplyDeleteCheeky Eva with your tissue! Things like that always seem to be far more interesting than toys though.. I'm with you on the pollen. Also dust and mould for me. Thanks to the humidity he battle against mould here is a never ending one. It was never an issue for me in the past but in the last couple of years it has snuck up on me.
ReplyDeleteAnyway your rainbow stencil card is gorgeous (yay for the honorable mention!) I'm not so good with stencils. I always tend to get ink or paste sneaking below them. I need to figure out how to secure them better and also perhaps be a little gentler in my approach.
