A day to shine!

Hello, crafting friends!

Has your card-making style changed over the years? Mine definitely has! I've noticed that while I was once a very clean and simple kind of card maker, there isn't quite as much white space as there used to be on my cards these days - although weirdly, I'm making more one-layer cards now. Anyway, today I'm going back to my CAS roots:

What do you think? It's the simplest card ever! I raided my snippets drawer for tiny offcuts of different colour foils to make the focal point. The branch is actually a bit of tree from a large Build a Scene X Cut die called Christmas House. I used a snippet of copper foil to cut it, glued it to a piece of silver foil and trimmed the edges. This was then mounted onto a piece of gold foil.

Before attaching the small panel onto my card base, I stamped a tiny sentiment from The Greetery's Just Mason Around, heat embossed it in gold and then glued the panel above it. To finish, I added a single gold faceted jewel.

THIS CARD WON AN AWARD
This shiny little number was placed in the top 3 at Perfectly CAS :)

CHALLENGES
I was inspired by Perfectly CAS where we are asked to use 1/3rd of the card or less and the theme is Metallic; I'm joining in with two challenge's birthday celebrations too - Less Is More is celebrating its 11th birthday and Time Out Challenges is celebrating its 8th birthday. Congratulations and happy birthday to both and a big thank you to both design teams for all their hard work! AAA Cards has a fun 1 out of 9 challenge going on where you divide a card base up into rectangles and pick one! I chose the central rectangle but didn't go for the optional animal :) I'm also playing along at The Snippets Playground where we must make cards using snippets and offcuts - the card base of my card is the only thing that isn't a snippet.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
I would stay and chat, honestly I would, but having spent hours trying to get a photograph of this pesky shiny card and putting my back out bending sideways to avoid having my reflection in it, I'm running a little bit behind on all the things I'm supposed to be doing!

Sending hugs,

  5. Fabulous CAS card Vicky. I must admit to thinking twice before using very shiny card. I usually have the camera lens or me gurning into the reflection so I truly know what you mean about doing contortions! That said - it's utterly gorgeous - very clever to use just the centre part of the tree die, it makes the viewer want to see more!
