Hello, crafting friends!
I made this card on the 25th of the month which reminded me of another 25th of the month at the end of the year that will creep up on us before we even know it! As most card makers do, I like to make festive cards throughout the year so I can just send them out in November (that's the theory anyway!) But I have not been able to craft very much at all this year so my stash is currently a bit meagre :/ I thought I'd better get on with it!
Last year I bought the beautiful Lighting the Way set by Penny Black but didn't get round to using it. I delved into the NBUS box today and cracked it open and came up with this artsy card that was really simple to make.
I stamped the Bethlehem image onto a card panel using my stamp positioner, and then again on a sticky note to make a mask. I covered the bottom of the image with the mask and sponged in a sky, leaving a halo around the star. The image was uncovered and then I was able to sponge in the bottom of the scene using two yellow inks with details added with coloured pencils. I left the town uncoloured so that it really popped against the background.
I had left the stamp in the stamp positioner so I was able to clean it off and add versamark to the stars only. I embossed these in gold and then added the sentiment from The Best Gift of All by Reverse Confetti. This was half price from Seven Hills Crafts where there is a Reverse Confetti sale on - so if you're in the UK do go and find a bargain!

AND IN OTHER NEWS
It's probably the craziest weather to be making Christmas cards as the sun is shining, there isn't a cloud in the sky and it's hot, hot, hot!! Eva and I went for a long walk and she swam earlier on when it was cooler and she is now sunning herself in the garden.
Any minute now, she will wake up slowly and let me know that she requires some Meaty Chunks. Life is one big holiday for her!
A beautiful traditional Christmas card Vicky, like Eva I'm feeling the heat
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful find to make this gorgeous card Vicky, also lovely colours used. Eva looks so relaxed in the sun there.

ReplyDeleteI love how you casually say that the card was easy to make !!!Maybe for you .I'm not very good at colouring in,masking or anything that requires real talent. You did a beautiful job as always .You created a fabulous christmas scene with such gorgeous vibrant colours. Eva looks just like !I feel the weather here is still rubbish hotish but black clouds all day every day.

What a nice change to have that sun shining, Vicky, as long as it's not TOO hot! It is a challenge making a Christmas card in that weather, but come November, you will be glad you did. Your beautiful classic scene is perfectly executed and colored! Thank you for inspiring everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
