Relaxing in the flowers

Hello, crafting friends!

It's Thursday and that means it's a Tic Tac Toe kind of a day! There's a fabulous board to inspire you, beautifully thought out by Felicita:

I've taken the top row, Friend/Summer Theme/Single Layer, and have used some of my favourite techniques to make a birthday card for a friend.

I used Fierce and Brave by Stamplorations on THIS card the other day and have been wanting to use it again. I used the other female image this time and had the idea of stenciling around her so that she would look as if she were relaxing in a sea of flowers!

She was coloured with my coloured pencils and then I taped a mini stencil by Funky Fossil over the card base and blended yellow and pink inks through it avoiding my lovely lady. The stencil was just the right size for my 4" square card base and left a pleasing border around it. Finally, I stamped a friendly birthday sentiment from Pinkfresh Studios' Perfect Sentiments and embellished with a single pearl.

Okay, so now it's your turn to play! Do hop over to the Tic Tac Toe challenge blog and admire all the gorgeousness my teamies have made to inspire you. You'll find the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post and you can use it to share your own creation with us. Which row or column will you choose from the board? Or will you opt for one of the diagonals? We can't wait to see what you make!

CHALLENGES
I'm linking this card up at Allsorts where Lynn has chosen the theme of So Girly; I'm also joining in at Seize The Birthday where Barbara's choice of topping is Summer Activities - mine is relaxing in the garden (a goal of mine but rarely achieved!!) I'm also sharing at AAA Birthday where the theme is Flowers; And last but not least, I'm squeaking in late at Happy Little Stampers Stencil challenge where Anything Goes.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
I am currently feeling very sorry for myself as I'm in pain with that knee injury again. I was walking a young dog who hasn't been lead-trained yet and she pulled and I felt the knee go :/ Luckily, I have four days to rest it up. I thank my lucky stars every single day that my own fluffy girl is brilliant on lead, and that I can let her off so that she can have a good run out, and that her recall is excellent so I need not worry about her getting into trouble.

A gold star for a Very Good Girl!

Sending hugs,

Strength and Dignity

Hello, crafting friends!

At last I've had some time to roll my sleeves up and get inky! Housework is for people with no craft supplies - am I right?! I've gone right back to my CAS roots for today's simple, one layer card. Come and see:

I found these 4" square card bases in Hobbycraft last time I was there and thought it would be fun to try a different size. I masked off the corner of my card base with low tack tape and sponged pale pink and yellow inks over the area. A lovely friend had sent me this wonderful stampset, Fierce and Brave by Stamplorations, and I stamped one of the elegant ladies from it in grey over the ink blend.

I added a few touches of darker colour to the image with coloured pencils before stamping the sentiment, also from the set, into the space below the image. That's it!

CHALLENGES
I'm linking this card up with Less is More, where the theme is One Layer and Just One Image; Jaydee has chosen the theme of One Layer and CAS at The Paper Players this week and I'm joining in there too; This is the first outing for this gorgeous stamp set so I'm also sharing at Darnell's NBUS challenge.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
There was no strength and dignity to be found in the garden today.

"Hmmph! Well when ARE we going swimming?"

Sending hugs,
