Lovely as a Tree winter scene

I'm not really a big fan of winter - hibernation always seems like the best idea to me when the wind is howling and the frosts pinching! But at this time of the year, the sunrises and sunsets are often spectacular and it's the thrill of those winter skies that set me off today - that and the challenge over at Make My Monday: to make a scene with the theme of 'nature'! Come and see:

I reached for an old favourite for this card: Lovely as a Tree. This stamp set has appeared in the UK catalogue ever since Stampin' Up opened its doors here in 2007 - and for good reason! It is very popular because it's such a versatile set, suitable for males, females and pretty much any occasion including Christmas, and can be used in many different styles of card making. I'm certainly never parting with mine! I made the sun by sponging inside a punched circle with pumpkin Pie ink. The sun was then masked with the punched out circle and the sky sponged over it using three colours of ink. Despite being fast-drying and water-based, the Stampin' Up inks blend beautifully - even on a porous card stock like the Naturals Ivory I used today.

After sponging in the ground - I blended Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede to make wintery-looking grass! - I added this sentiment from Thank You Kindly. I find it so useful when I'm making notecards - and why write on writing paper when you can send something a lot prettier that can be displayed?!

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Thank You Kindly
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Perfect Plum, Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso
Card stock: Naturals Ivory
Other: Early Espresso marker, 3/4" circle punch, stamp-a-majig
I'd be delighted to order any of these supplies for you and can have them delivered to your address in the UK. I am committed to providing excellent customer service and am always happy to help and advise. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593.

I have a bit of a thing about trees! I remember one Saturday morning, when I was in my twenties (all those years ago!) looking out of my London flat window and wondering what type of tree it was growing in the street. My friend, who was visiting, didn't know either and we realised we had a big gap in our education! That afternoon, we went out and bought a little pocket book about trees and went for a long walk around all the parks in London, entertaining ourselves by identifying the trees. It was great fun and turned us into little tree experts overnight!

Thanks for coming to visit me here today. It's Thursday tomorrow and I'll have a three-minute design for you, so do pop back if you have a minute.

Hugs,
