More Amore for Valentines day

There's nothing like new stash for giving your creativity a kick in the seat of its pants! I've been stroking my new designer papers from the spring mini catalogue and dreaming up things to make with them. There are some gorgeous ones - like the More Amore range I'm using today. These papers are unashamedly feminine, with pinks and reds and hearts aplenty, but that doesn't mean you can't use them for male cards! Come and see:

The first stage in deciding what to do with my new papers is spreading them out and looking at them for a while (a cup of coffee is helpful during this arduous process but not essential!) I'm always on the lookout for design features which can be the focus of a card or scrapbook page. I certainly found it here with this stunning quote!

I immediately thought how well it would work as the sentiment on a male valentine so I cut it out as a strip. This paper is slightly distressed at the edges so I got my sponges out and echoed the distressing with a little Basic Grey ink before mounting the strip onto a mat of Basic Grey card stock. I love the grey against the creamy suede of Naturals Ivory card stock.

The card needed an embellishment so I made a tile with a heart punched out of Real Red Core'dinations card stock, embossed lightly with the woodgrain embossing folder and sanded back, then mounted on a pile of Crumb Cake punched hearts all stuck together. This photo doesn't do it justice actually but it looks like a shabby chic painted wooden heart in real life and I love it!

I'll be linking this card up to Addicted to CAS where this fortnight's challenge is Heart.

Here's what you'll need to make this card
Stamps: None!
Ink: Basic Grey
Card stock: Naturals Ivory, Basic Grey
Other: Large Heart punch, Woodgrain embossing folder, Big Shot, More Amore designer paper

Don't cats sit in the most uncomfortable-looking places?! Yesterday Tuppence found that someone had thrown a cushion on the back of the sofa, tantalisingly close to the radiator. The cushion had fallen at a steep angle but the cat managed, with great difficulty, to curl herself up on it and go to sleep. "Oh no!" said my daughter, coming into the room later and seeing her perched precariously there. "There's going to be a catalanche!"

See you tomorrow!
