With sympathy

Hello crafting friends.

Here's my advice of the day: do not wait to make sympathy cards until you need them. It's hard to make them and you may find yourself making the same card over and over because you feel that every mistake is a mark of disrespect. This one is still not perfect but here it is anyway. Come and see:

I started with some (ancient!) Stampin' Up designer paper in a soft grey. I trimmed it, attached it directly to the front of a card base and added a strip of black card stock to ground it.

The topper is a circle of grey card stock decorated with a spray of flowers and leaves from Concorde and 9th's Enjoy it All. I stamped them in Stampin' Up Smoky Slate and Memento Tuxedo Black, then fussy cut them and popped them up with dimensionals.

The card was finished with a sentiment from MFT's Floral Focus and a sprinkling of clear gems.

A big thank you to Just Us Girls for starting me off with this week's Designer Paper challenge and to Just Add Ink where I used their beautiful sketch flipped upside down. I shall be linking up with both challenges :)
Edited to add: Actually, I won't be linking up with Just Add Ink, because - YET AGAIN! - I appear to not have any clue about Australian time zones!

AND IN OTHER NEWS
Eva and I have just come back from a long walk by the river in the sunshine. She tried staying awake for tea time but she just couldn't quite keep her eyes open...

... and for two pins, I'd join her!

Thanks for visiting me today - always lovely to see you here :) Pleeeease tell me I'm not the only one who wants to hibernate!

Hugs,

    1. I can't pass the duvet as there appears to be a large golden retriever in it! Come on, lets all snuggle in! See you in the spring! xxx

  2. great sympathy card Clare, how do you find all the different challenges? I battle just getting designs ready for classes and don't think I would even know where to go look at challenges.

    1. Hi Barb. I've signed up to all my favourites via email - you can use a separate email address to do this to make life simpler. I find new ones because I visit a lot of people in Blogland that do different challenges to me :) There's also a site that lists challenges - I think it's called Challenges for Days. Challenges are one of the best things about crafting for me because they send you outside your comfort zone and they're sociable too - you get to know other crafters in Blogland which I love.
      Happy crafting x

  3. Sympathy cards are tough but remember it's the mere thought that you made something homemade that will touch the person't heart. This is beautiful in greys. Thanks so much for joining the girls and I at Just Us Girls this week.

  4. It's tough to need sympathy cards no matter what and this one is lovely. I love the soothing grays. And to make you feel better, I have some of the same papers....AND I have also missed challenge deadlines because of Australia time. I think we are 15 hours ahead of them so you must be REALLY ahead of them!!! There's a time conversion thingie on the internet that's helpful!!

    1. Lol LeAnne, I would LOVE to see your collection of papers!
I think we must be behind Australia because the deadline was 10pm Wednesday and I was blithely trying to link up in the afternoon!

  5. Yep, I second what Nancy says, plus, if you wanted perfect cards you'd buy them. By their nature handmade are unique and mistakes add to the authenticity. It's beautiful, as are you! xoxo
