Hello crafting friends!
Oh those birthday cards for the boys! They have to be made don't they?! That's what I've been up to today. Come and see:
Wild, by Uniko, is a fun stamp set that works pretty well for the males of the species. I had been thinking about getting a tiger stencil to use with it but hadn't got round to it. And then I remembered I had some animal print tissue paper in my stash from several centuries ago, and wondered if that would work.
I cut a piece to fit half a card panel, attached it using spray adhesive and trimmed the edges. The large 'wild' part of the sentiment was stamped on an off cut of card stock, coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut. I used my stamping platform to add the 'Have a' using Stampin' Up Cajun Craze ink.
The final part of the card was adding the birthday block between the L and the D. This was inspired by Hannelie (Desert Diva) in this post. She had placed the word birthday exactly there and had blown my mind!
By the way, I have found that making a chart of all my Spectrum Noir and SU Blendabilities markers really helps to match colours.
I found the template on Pinterest, printed it off and coloured it in. Of course, that was back in the halcyon days when I still had a printer!
CHALLENGES
I am linking this card up with The Male Room where they want to see Sentiments as the focus of our cards. I'm also playing along with CAS Colours and Sketches where I loved the strong lines of this week's sketch.
AND IN OTHER NEWS
Talking of wild things, here's The Beige Beast, dreaming of a world where no-one EVER says 'wait' and dinner happens shortly after breakfast.
Perhaps she's a hobbit? They eat breakfast, second-breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper... that sounds about right to her! And to me at the moment too I must admit...

How about you? Are you finding yourself reaching for more snacks during your quarantine?
Hugs,
Super male card and great die and colours.

Thanks Kath! x
DeleteLove this wild and very masculine card. Great placement of the sentiment you were inspired by.
ReplyDeleteAww Eva does look a bit fed up!
YES to the extra snacking . . .oops! Will be able to start walking it of tomorrow (hopefully) . Xxx
It's a wild card - hahahaha!
DeleteHere's to happy walking :)

This is a great masculine card!!! Love how you incorporated it all into the sketch! Thanks so much for playing along with us at the CC&S challenge blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie - and what a fab sketch :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful masculine card Vicky, I too love how the birthday is placed, just a fabulous card. So with both my hats on - Thank you so much for joining us in our Sentiment in focus challenge at The Male Room this week. Looking forward to see you again next challenge.

Hannelie is such an inspiration isn't she! Thanks for the fun challenge Faith :)
DeleteThis "wild" strip is a real eye-catcher, Vicky! Great card for a man or boy! Rosi x
ReplyDeleteGood for those wild boys!! x
DeleteThis is such a fun card, Vicky! I love sentiments with mixed fonts and I agree with you about Hannelie and her brilliant sentiment placement - her talent often inspires me.
ReplyDeleteAside from my two pitbulls (who were basically hoovers with fur) the rest of my dogs (various mixed breeds) have been annoyingly picky. Chica is especially delicate and often looks at her bowl with a "what the hell is that??" expression.
I've been pretty good about avoiding snacking but every once in a while I will do anything for a bag of pickled onion Monster Mash. (Am I 12 years old or something??)
Eva doesn't eat everything - but she'd like to! Pickled onion Monster Mash - what IS that???!!!
DeleteWanted to reply to your message but no email address for you... Yes, I too am horrified about the Monster Munch (which I mistakenly called Monster Mash). When I told a friend she actually asked if I'm pregnant because she could see no other reason why a sensible adult woman would eat it! LOL!
DeleteWhat a great masculine card design for all those "wild" males in our life! As for snacking during quarantine .... I am definitely doing more snacking and wondering if I'll even fit through the door once it's okay to go back out into the world! LOL
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of those wild males around! It's hard with the snacking isn't it - and I'm not sure if dancing round the kitchen while cooking is offseting it for me!
DeleteOh she is such a pretty girl! Love your wonderfully masculine card--very creative!
ReplyDeleteIsn't she adorable?!
DeleteThought I might put a cute kitten on the inside of the card ;)
Fabulous animal print paper and bold lettering design.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
I was pleased the tissue paper worked so well!
DeleteGreat card! the tissue paper worked ~ I like the font too. I'm snacking too much these days also... I better go take walk :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm doing the same - and trying to do more exercise too!
DeleteAnother great card, Vicky! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis is both inspired - love the play on words and tiger print! - and inspiring! After I'd seen your card I used the same idea to create some extras for my box using a different set - so thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh that's good!
DeleteThis is so clever, the play with words and the tiger print is perfect. Thank you for playing along at The Male Room, Crafty hugs, Clarissa DT
ReplyDeleteWow, what a wild card, love the way you have placed the words. Thank you so much for joining us in our Sentiment in focus challenge at The Male Room. I hope you'll join our new "In the Garden" challenge also.
