Wisteria wall

Hello crafting friends!

I'm popping in to show you a card I made for a couple of challenges that are about to close their linkies. Come and see:

Wisteria isn't out yet in the UK but it won't be long now especially as we've been having a heat wave over the last few days. The wisteria I'm using is from Stampin' Up's Soft Spring. I stamped the outline image, coloured it with markers and fussy cut it.

For the background, I used a diamond-shaped stencil, with the Brick Wall stencil by Funky Fossil over the top. I sponged Petal Pink ink into it, darkening it towards the bottom of the diamond.

I arranged my wisteria over the brickwork, added a blocky sentiment by Uniko and cut the panel out with a stitched rectangle die by Heffy Doodles. A sprinkling of gems was added before attaching it to a card base.

In case anyone is interested, the diamond-shaped stencil was homemade. I had seen the shape on this week's Freshly Made Sketches sketch and sighed for a Greetery die that I've seen and can't have and would've been the wrong size for my card base anyway...

... and then rolled my sleeves up, got out a pencil and ruler and measured and cut the shape myself. It's not the Greetery die but it's a compromise!

EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
I was so happy to be a 'Perfect Princess' at Freshly Made Sketches with this card!

CHALLENGES
I'm linking this card up with Freshly Made Sketches, which inspired me with that diamond shape; CAS Colours and  Sketches, where it's a colour week with a gorgeous combination of Petal Pink, Mint Macaron and Highland Heather. I'm also joining in with the Spring Fling challenge at Seize The Birthday.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
How are you spending your Easter weekend? I kicked the festivities off by doing my best to cut my fingers off on a broken glass hidden in a washing up bowl but, once that was bathed and bandaged up, I was able to think of other things to do. I've walked my floofy pal Eva and gardened in the sunshine, talked to friends on the phone and online, played virtual board games online with the family using my youngest son's techie know-how, cooked delicious meals for the members of the family who are here and side-eyed the chocolate eggs on the sideboard. Of course there's been a bit of crafting too!

How about you?

I'll leave you with Eva who has been given a carrot for Easter!

Normally when I give her a carrot, she takes it (very gently, because she is the Goodest Girl!)  and then runs off to demolish it in the garden. Today I asked her to stay because I wanted to take a photo which is why she's giving me a reproachful look!

Hugs,

  2. Sooo sweet ~ she's such a good girl! I'm glad you didn't need stitches, that would be bad timing indeed. Beautiful card and great job creating a mask & fussy cutting too. Easter Blessings!

    1. She really is a good girl. I could tell she was thinking 'but WHY do I have to stay?!' I'm glad I didn't need stitches too - think I'd have preferred to have done them myself rather than go near a hospital!! Easter blessings to you and yours too Karen :)

  5. ... and what a fantastic compromise your homemade stencil has made too! LOVE your diamond brick wall covered with the pretty wisteria.

Apart from the finger incident, it sounds like you've made the most of your Easter so far. Hope your finger heals quickly.

Easter carrots? I thought they would only be for the Easter Bunnies, not the Easter Retrievers! Eva is a good girl for obeying your commands when all she wanted to do was run off and eat her treat in the garden!

Happy Easter Monday to you xxx

Thanks for the healing good wishes. Thank goodness it's my left hand!
Eva LOVES carrots and loves to crunch them up!
Happy Easter Monday to you too :)

  6. This is a beautifully CAS take on the challenge Vicky and super resourceful in terms of the stencil, which worked perfectly! I have been neglectful in my blog commenting and reading lately (hangs head in shame) so am going to play catch up today! So glad you are still well and Eva pup too. You sound like you’ve been busy today, but not even eaten any chocolate - not even medicinal for that cut finger?! Eva does look rather funny with her carrot; we have 4 new chickens but they are scared of everything- the children strung a carrot up for them yesterday but they resolutely cowered in the corner wanting nothing to do with it!

    1. Well somehow that chocolate was demolished by the end of the day and of course you're right, it was er... medicinal! Aw, do you rescue chickens? Bless them, they don't understand real chicken life at first do they? They'll soon get the hang of a happy life.
      Happy Easter to you all!

  7. I love your diamond shaped stencil (and I covet that Greetery die as well!), and your final product is amazing! I was lazy and just went with a Nested Label die! I have never seen a dog eat carrots, so Eva must be extra-special!

    1. Go for it LeAnne - your card stock is the right size for it! Eva IS extra special of course but lots of dogs love carrots - try yours with them!

    1. Thank you Karen. Sometimes you just have to roll your sleeves up don't you! To be honest I've never met a pup turn their nose up at a carrot!

  12. Love this pretty soft card!! I have that stamp & haver never given it any love! You have inspired me! So sorry about your fingers. Must be painful. Love your doggy & your comment on "side-eying" the chocolate! :) I can relate!

  13. So pretty! I love wisteria, thus I own the Soft Spring set! Wisteria was the flower of choice for my wedding and we were married in a gazebo covered with wisteria in full bloom. Even my bridesmaids wore the same lavender color! All of which was completely accidental, but superior timing. Thank you so much for sharing and playing along with us at CC&S
