The happiness of having pets

Hello, crafting friends!

I have had SO much fun crafting this afternoon! I took out my NBUS Let's Stay Home stamp set by Sugarpea and thought I'd make a quick card with it. And, what seems like hours later, I have made a card ;)

Just look at that pure little puss cat asleep on the chair. We always used to say that a house was not a home if it didn't have at least one cat curled up on a chair - and then we got a dog, but that's another story! What took the time with this card was creating the scene for the little kitty. I had the urge to do some paperpiecing so I spent a long time finding suitable bits of designer paper for the chair and cushions. I really, really want a yellow dotty chair like that now!

I stamped the cat, shaded her with a very pale blue alcohol marker and fussy cut her before settling her in the chair. The window has been made by inking part of Funky Fossil's Arched Window stencil. The rug was stamped, coloured and masked so that I could ink in a floor and I added floorboards with a fineliner pen; I stamped the table from the set and added a pot plant to it. The window was masked off so that I could 'paint' the walls a cheerful pale yellow. The final touches were a book left on the floor and a sentiment from Uniko's Simply Said Blocks.

CHALLENGES
I'm joining in at Time Out Challenges where the theme is Pets and also with Seize the Birthday where it's a birthday theme with the optional Topping of Furry Friends; I'm also linking up at Addicted to Stamps and More where there's an Any Occasion challenge, and NBUS, the place to share your Never Before Used Schtuff!

AND IN OTHER NEWS
Today's card made me smile because it reminded me of a thing that our cat Tuppence (sadly no longer with us) used to do. You'd be sitting somewhere and would just get up to get something, and when you returned a minute later, Tuppence would be curled up in your chair. The hilarious thing was she would appear to be so deeply asleep that you almost doubted that you had been sitting there at all!!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend! Sending hugs,

  7. Oh, my goodness!!! What a fabulous kitty card. This caught my eye over at NBUS. I have 16 cats, so naturally I had to come take a closer look. Love the scene you constructed...so serene and purrfect! Your paper piecing is incredible. Love this so much.
Had to laugh at your Tuppence taking over a chair as soon as the occupant has vacated for a minute! Mine do that, too....but they don't fall into a deep sleep that fast. lol..
    Thank you for sharing!

  8. Is this Bubbles! He has just been sitting on my card....so was taken into another room and he does exactly what you say Tuppance used to do! Wow you did create a lovely scene and what amazing paper piecing-must have taken hours! And that dotty chair is fab and I like you combined with cushions of different patterns and colours. Also spotted the bright red on the vase-like how this pops. And a lovely soft background allows us to focus on the main thing....your pet! Thanks for joining Time Out x

  14. OMG Vicky this is absolute perfection!! This is put together so cleanly and your choice of 'fabric' for the chair/cushion are stylish indeed. Your lining of the floor adds so much dimension and your did so well with masking the arched window. Funnily enough my very first cat (when I was a baby) was called Tuppence. When I was around 4yrs old we went to Australia to visit my Mum's family for six weeks. My Dad stayed home and she sat at the gate pining for us. Dad had to have her put down because she wouldn't eat anything, was so sad. On a funnier note our cat Minnie does the exact same thing with Max, he only has to get up for a split second and she's in like Flynn!! Sorry for rambling on and just noticed you entered at TIME OUT, so glad you did!!! xxx

  15. Oh, those wily cats, they know a warm butt imprint when they see one and they know how to play dead, too! Your scene is like a photo, Vicky! Wonderful attention to details, including that great pot and mother-in-law's tongue plant! And now I want a yellow dotty chair, too! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
