Hen Party Favour bags

Hello, crafting friends!

If you popped by yesterday you'll have seen the cards I made for my daughters hen party. They were slipped into little favour bags which I'm showing you today:

The bags themselves are little 'mini lunch sacks' left over from my Stampin' Up demo days all those years ago - knew they'd come in handy one day! I decorated them with Funky Fossil's In The Meadow stamp set, stamped in black and doodled in gaps and in areas where they didn't stamp well.

The tags were made entirely with snippets and left overs! The biggest snippets were offcuts of a dark kraft card which I cut with a small arch nesting die. I decorated these with flowers and leaves cut from green, yellow and coral snippets. I stamped hens on white snippets with a hand-carved stamp that my daughter bought in Paris years ago when she was studying there and gave to me as a gift. They needed to be fussy cut - a labour of love! I cut small black circles from black offcuts and glued them to the tags, made a hole in them using my cropadile and threaded them with some coordinating twine from my stash. I attached the tags to the bags with little coloured library clips that I've had in my stash for years.

They were an easy design for multiples (although I ran out of time - I had meant to use green washi tape to ground my hen and finish the flowers with a black marker. Aaaargh!)

CHALLENGES
I'm linking my tag up with the Cut It Up Challenge where the theme is Tag You're It - Make A Tag; I'm also galloping off to the Snippets Playground to share this project as it was made entirely with left overs and snippets! I feel like a proper womble!! Since this is the first time I've used the hen stamp, I am linking up with Darnell's NBUS challenge where we are inspired to use our Never Before Used Schtuff!

AND IN OTHER NEWS
As one of the activities at the party, the Head Bridesmaid showed us how to make perfume. It was such fun! We all selected our preferred mix of essential oils and mixed them in a spray bottle with gycerine, alcohol and water. By the end of the party, they had blended and there were some gorgeous signature perfumes! Each guest had their perfume added to their bag, along with the thank you card, a packet of little speckled candy covered chocolate eggs, and...

... an adorable little ceramic hen to remind the guests of when they were hens! They came in different colours and were made by a local potter. I wrapped them in coral coloured tissue, secured with yellow washi tape.

It was such a lovely party. We had lunch, played games, did plenty of Golden Retriever cuddling, and had a lot of fun laughing and chatting together. And then, right at the end, amid much laughter, the Head Bridesmaid produced a bag and from it dressed my daughter up in a 'Bride to Be' sash, a mini veil and some kind of crazy tiara!  I sent them off in a taxi bus, giddy with giggling, to go off to the evening party.

This was the photo that overset me. My daughter left home to go to university ten years ago and has been an independent young lady living in a flat of her own ever since, but there was something so touching about this picture that I had to reach for the tissues!

Sending hugs,

Amazing Birthday tags with half price Stampin' Up tag punch!

Don't you love beautiful tags?! They make the dullest parcel look thrilling and can transform a card! And what's more, they don't have to take long to make OR cost the earth! Come and see:

You can make tags out of 5cm (2") wide strips of card stock with one click of the tag topper punches. I used the Angled Tag topper punch for these tags and the good news is that it's now half price and you can buy it for only £10.48! But do hurry - a lot of the retiring stock has already sold out, including my favourite Beach House washi tape (but don't worry, there are plenty of other gorgeous Stampin' Up washi tapes to choose from!)

I was having another of my busy days yesterday and, as usual, made a 'to do' list to keep me on track. At the end of the day, I went to draw lines through the items I'd completed and found that my youngest son had added an item to the list: 'Be the best mother in the whole world'. And what was most touching is that he'd drawn a line through it :) If anyone needs me, I'll be in Mumland for a bit!

Get your Stampin' Up stash for less!

Every Wednesday, Stampin' Up announces seven or eight products that are reduced in price FOR ONE WEEK ONLY! (You'll find them each week under the Special Offers tab at the top of my blog - scroll down to make sure you see ALL the offers.) This week's deals are all about embossing folders, ribbon and the lovely, zingy colour Crushed Curry!

There's nothing like the addition of an eye-catching ribbon to up the excitement factor of your gifts and Stampin' Up's brilliant coordination means you don't have to waste precious crafting time searching for matching ribbon! Here the gorgeous Crushed Curry striped grosgrain ribbon has been used as a belly band to contrast with the fabulous sunshine pattern from the Sweet Dreams designer paper pack.

Shades of yellow look wonderful but Crushed Curry works brilliantly as an accent colour too...

... as you can see in this card I made last year, using the fab hexagon outline and sentiment from Geometrical - an under-used stamp set in my opinion!

Embossing adds lots of lovely texture to your projects and it's worth making a collection of folders - particularly at these amazing prices!

This elegant card and favour box were embossed with the reduced Mosaic folder and decorated with Old Olive and gold accents.

And did you spot the little bee tag on the gift I showed you first?

I used the Baby Bumblebee single stamp on p.39 of the spring/summer catalogue and of course it cried out for a Crushed Curry background embossed with the reduced Honeycomb folder!

I hope you've enjoyed these projects and have been inspired to add some of these bargains to your stash!

It's funny how we see colour in different ways. This, for example, is Eva.

I call her my beautiful Champagne Princess or my Golden Treasure! Yesterday, I overheard my eldest son (who loves her to bits) call her 'The Beige Beast'!

Have a lovely weekend won't you. I'll be back on Tuesday when I'll be thinking of spring colours! Hope to see you then,

A gift for one of my Stampin' Up team

I joined Stampin' Up during Sale-a-bration and I'd recommend it! Why? Because on top of the great value starter kit, you get extra goodies of course! Whether you're interested in joining to get your Stampin' Up craft supplies at a discount or whether you'd like to set up a business that brings in a proper income, it's always good to get something for free! This year, you can choose your free products from two different options - read all about it here.

New demonstrators that join my team get a welcome pack from me - a pretty notebook, a handmade card, a swatch of current card stock, something yummy...! And as time goes on, and they achieve their goals and titles, they get celebratory cards and gifts from me too. One lovely lady recently received this little gift set through the post:

It was made with a beautiful paper from the Confetti Celebration pack and the hostess stamp set called I like You, which is brilliant for colouring with blendabilities markers.

This is a design I use often and it works particularly well with a background with strong horizontals like this one.

My team receive a charm bracelet and handmade charm when they achieve their first title and a new charm each time they gain another. I find the Gift Card thinlits die really useful for gift wrapping small gifts like jewellery as well as gift cards or money.

I love to surprise people with a sweet treat! This little box is just the right size for two mini bars of lush Green & Blacks chocolate. Click here for my video tutorial.

Despite my youngest son's hugby tackles and my puppy snuggles I'm still missing my daughter since she returned to uni on Sunday. And I think someone else misses her too...

Ahhh! My two favourite girls! They have so much in common too - naughtiness, a wicked sense of humour and the fact that they both 'borrow' my clothes!

See you tomorrow,

Welcome to my team - Stampin' Up Artisan blog hop

I blinked and Thursday came around again! Thursdays are special days when I join my Artisan Designer teamies to bring you ideas and inspiration on a fab blog hop! Are you ready to join us?

PAINTED BLOOMS NOTEBOOKS
The team were sent some gorgeous goodies from the new Stampin' Up spring/summer catalogue this month and I fell instantly in love with the Painted Petals stamp set and coordinating Painted Blooms designer paper. (I've already had to order another couple of packs of this! One to use and one to stroke!) Come and see what I made with them:

Here's an idea for a gift that would go down well with lots of ladies I know! These are just ordinary notebooks but covering them with the beautiful Painted Blooms paper, tying them up with ribbon and adding a little tag really raises them to the next level.

But, in fact, I made these notebooks as gifts for new recruits to my Stampin' Up team, The Inkredibles, so naturally each one required a coordinating card!

I love how the Stampin' Up mini stapler has such a long reach. It was easy to punch the stamped greeting out with the Ticket punch and staple it to the centre of my stamped panel.

There's a background stamp in the Painted Petals set with lines on it and being photopolymer, it's a doddle to make gingham with!

Oh Pacific Point, I've fallen in love with you again! This beautiful blue teams well with Wild Wasabi green and a few flecks of Hello Honey marker add interest.

Would you like to see how the cards coordinate with the notebooks? Come on then:

Here we go! Pinks...

... purples...

... and blue! Which is your favourite?

Now, I wonder what my teamie, the inventive Allison Okamitsu, has to show you this week? Click the button below and let's hop over and find out!

I took my lovely puppy to her first puppy training class on Monday evening but I'm afraid she didn't behave very well. She was so excited to see the other puppies and all she wanted to do was play with them. She pulled and pulled on her lead and it was all I could do to hold her. "She's quite er... busy, isn't she?" said the instructor crushingly.  Sometimes it's hard to believe that one day, Eva will become a calm and gentle lady dog!

See you tomorrow when I'll be showing you more goodies from the Stampin' Up spring/summer catalogue 2015. See you then,
