Another use for Stampin' Up's Curvy Keepsake box!

Have you seen the gorgeous Curvy Keepsake Box thinlits die in the autumn Winter Stampin' Up catalogue? You run it through the Big Shot a couple of times and it makes the most beautiful little box - perfect for packaging sweet treats, jewellery and other small gifts! But of course that's not all you can do with this die - for example, I immediately saw how it would make a mug! Are you curious?

Well, first let me show you the box. Isn't it cute?! Once I'd die-cut the box, including two pieces of designer paper to gussy it up a little, I added a tag (three different ones are included with the die) and tied it to the handle with some of the beautiful lace trim.

So how do you get a mug from this box?  Well, the cream panel facing you in the photo above is just the right shape! I cut one out of Cherry Cobbler card stock, turned it upside down and trimmed the top off it to use as a handle...

... tada! It's a mug! It's hard to see in this photo but I smooshed versamark over the pieces and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder to give my mug that shiny ceramic look.

The steam coming out of the mug was drawn in with an aquapainter and I added a punched heart and some gems.

The card and box make a cute little gift set, perhaps for someone very dear to my heart who has just started university...

I helped my daughter move away to university yesterday but on Saturday, she and I spent a lovely morning together, browsing the shops in town, chatting and having coffee and cake together in a favourite cafe. There was a scary moment when I thought she might supplement her student funds when we passed this sign...

... until my daughter pointed out that 'interesting' was one of the requirements so I was quite safe! What a cheeky monkey!

See you tomorrow,
